Lake Cumberland State Resort Park is located 45 miles west of Somerset, Kentucky. Lake Cumberland has 50,000 acres of water and 1,225 miles of shoreline. It is considered to be one of the best areas in the Eastern United States for fishing and boating. It is also known for its abundance of bass, crappie and walleye. This resort is a haven for large deer herds and raccoon populations. Lake Cumberland is the only state park to feature an indoor pool complex. This 3,117-acre park offers fishing, indoor and outdoor pools, golf, hiking trails, riding stables, tennis, shuffleboard, picnic areas, playgrounds, exercise room & spa, and periodic special events.
Visitors may stay at the elegant 63-room Lure Lodge with its atrium, glass-backed elevator, dining room, gift shop, exercise room, hot tub and other pampering touches. They may otherwise opt for the cozy 10-room and 3 suite Pumpkin Creek Lodge. Ten Wildwood private cottages have contemporary designs and fireplaces. Cooking utensils, tableware and linens are also available.
The park has a 147-site campground as an option for overnight guests as well. It offers utility hookups and central service buildings that contain restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities. A grocery and garbage station are located nearby the campground as well.
Lake Cumberland is the only state park to feature a temperature-controlled indoor pool complex. It features an atrium, a retractable skylight, a game room, an exercise room, and a hot tub. There is also an outdoor public pool in the park that is open from Memorial Day through mid-August.
An Activities Center seats up to 300 guests and can be rented for conventions or reunions. The Activities Center Veranda can seat up to 150 guests. Pumpkin Creek Lodge has meeting space available for up to 40 guests and includes a lobby and hospitality patio. The Lure Lodge also has a meeting room located adjacent to the dining room as well. Rental of these spaces requires use of the park's catering service.
The marina has 100 open slips. Rentals of fishing boats, pontoon boats, houseboats, and ski boats are available as well. The 50,250 acres of Lake Cumberland has an abundance of bluegill, crappie, rockfish, walleye and 4 species of bass.
This resort park also features a beautiful 9-hole golf course near the lodge and an 18-hole miniature golf course. Riding stables are located at the park as well and the entire family will enjoy the guided trail rides that depart every hour. Beech, oak, and hickory forests surround the 4-mile trail that loops around the Lure Lodge. Picnic areas with tables, grills, and playgrounds are perfect for family outings.
