Teenagers provide parents with a complementary set of gray hairs when the topic of parties arrives. Alcohol is the forbidden fruit and without proper supervision teenagers will seek and find. The simple answer is to host the party and make some non-alcoholic drinks the kids will enjoy: Mulled Cranberry Apple Twister, Apricot Mint Froth, Iced Coffee Cup, Cranberry & Blackcurrant Tonic and Lime & Grape Freshener.

Serves 6

MULLED CRANBERRY APPLE TWISTER

2 1/2 cups cranberry juice
2 cups apple juice
2 tbsp. liquid honey
2 cinnamon sticks
1 orange slice
2 cloves

Put all the ingredients in a pot. Simmer for 10 minutes. Pour either into glasses or a punch bowl. Serve hot.

APRICOT MINT FROTH

6 dried apricots, soaked overnight
6 sprigs of fresh mint
6 cups condensed milk
1 tsp. nutmeg

Puree apricots with milk and nutmeg. Pour into glasses and garnish with each with a sprig of mint.


ICED COFFEE CUP

6 cups cold decaffinated coffee
12 ice cubes
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup whipped cream
1 tbsp. chocolate sauce

Put coffee, milk and ice cubes in blender until thickened. Serve immediately in tall glasses with straws. Top with whipped cream and drizzle chocolate sauce ontop.

CRANBERRY & BLACKCURRANT TONIC

1 1/2 cups cranberry juice
1 1/2 cups blackcurrant juice
3/4 cup Indian tonic water
12 ice cubes, crushed
6 lemon slices
18 maraschino cherries

Combine juices, tonic water and ice cubes. Serve chilled in tall glasses. Garnish with lemon slices and three cherries each on a cocktail stick.

LIME & GRAPE FRESHENER

3 tbsp. liquid honey
juice of 3 limes
2 cups white grape juice
2 cups 7-Up

Mix all ingredients together. Serve in tall glasses with ice. Serve chilled.
