INGREDIENTS:

two onions, chopped
two tomatoes, chopped
one tablespoon oil
two cups bread crumbs
one packet (500 gram) spaghetti, cooked
salt and pepper, to taste

DIRECTIONS:

In a saucepan, heat the oil.

Add the chopped onion and braise over a low heat.

Add the tomatoes and let the mixture simmer until it is cooked through.

Grease an oven-proof dish and layer it with half the bread crumbs. (Make your own bread crumbs by toasting leftover bread and crushing it with a rolling pin.)

Layer with tomato and onion mixture, then with spaghetti.

Layer the bread crumbs, tomato, onion, and spaghetti again.

The last layer will be just the bread crumbs. Dot with a bit of butter or margarine.

Bake in the oven for approximately 15 minutes on moderate heat.
