Delightfully Different Meatloaf Recipe
Hamburger and sausage are the key ingredients in preparing this different meatloaf. An American dish, this easy recipe will delight the whole family.
Meatloaf is one of the easiest American dishes to make. Most everyone has a favorite way of preparing meatloaf. The sharing of meatloaf “secrets” brings kitchen chefs together while perfecting their time-honored recipes. The best thing about meatloaf preparation is that measured ingredients can be approximated for individual tastes. For example, if a recipe calls for ½ chopped onion, a whole onion can be used instead.
It’s really hard to mess up a meatloaf. Usually excessive use of spices or overcooking it will damage a meatloaf beyond repair. Besides that, just about anything can go into a meatloaf. Here is one delightfully different recipe:
1 ½ lbs. Lean ground beef
½ lb. Ground sausage
1/3-1/2 pkg. Seasoned bread crumbs
OR
1-2 c. uncooked oatmeal
1-2 eggs
1-2 Tbsp. Milk
¼ c. ketchup
1 finely chopped onion
½ finely chopped green pepper
1 clove garlic, pressed and finely chopped
1-2 Tbsp. Steak sauce
1-2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1-2 c. grated cheddar cheese
4-6 slices uncooked bacon
Mix everything together (except the bacon) until uniformly blended. Shape into a loaf and place in a large loaf pan or baking dish. Lay the bacon side by side lengthwise on top of the meatloaf. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Then uncover and bake an additional ½ hour.
