Fragrant lavender has long been a favorite in sachets and potpourri’s, but did you know that lavender adds a delicious flavor to cookies as well? It’s true, and here is the recipe to prove it. Rich and buttery with a delicate lavender flavor that will have everyone begging for more.


Lavender Cookies

1 cup unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup dried, chopped lavender blossoms

Mix the dried, chopped lavender blossoms with the sugar. Cream the butter and sugar well, then gradually add the salt and flour. Mix thoroughly. Chill the dough for about an hour, or until firm enough to handle.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Form the dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press down on the balls with a fork, to flatten. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Cool on racks and then enjoy!
