Gormet Sugar Cookie Recipe
Follow these directions for gormet cutout sugar cookies for soft, tasty cookies. These cookies are great for holiday baking.
2/3 cup Butter Flavor Crisco
3/4 cup Sugar
1 1/4 tsp Vanilla Flavoring
4 tsp Milk
1 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp Salt
2 cups Flour
In a medium mixing bowl, beat together sugar, vanilla, egg and the Butter Flavored Crisco on high speed until creamed. (Approximately 3 minutes) Stir in the milk with spoon. Stir together the remaining dry ingredients and add to the creamed mixuture. (Chill dough at least an hour for best results)
Lightly flour the surface you are using to roll out the dough. Roll out dough to desired thickness using a rolling pin.
Cut out desired shapes using cookie cutters. (Metal cookie cutters work the best)
Bake in preheated oven 350 F for 8 minutes or until firm or very lightly browned on the bottom. Remove from air bake cookie sheet and place on cooling rack until completley cool.
After they are cooled, you may frost with a Buttercream frosting or Confectioners Sugar Icing. Add food coloring to obtain seasonal looks or add color tinted sprinkle sugar over white frosting. You may also use any type of sprinkles prior to baking and omit frosting entirely.
After the frosting is set, store cookies in air tight container, layering with waxed paper. Keep refrigerated to keep fresh longer, or freeze ahead for parties or holidays.
For Best Results:
* Always use Butter Flavor Crisco shortening, do not substitute
* Use air-bake cookie sheet
* Always use cooling rack to cool immediately after removing from the oven
* A marble rolling pin is reccomended
* Use metal cookie cutters
* The cookies will be softer if you roll the dough thick
