Next time you are throwing a party, or need to bring an appetizer or dip to a party, try one of these easy recipes:

Guacamole

2 ripe avocados, cut in half
3 teaspoons lemon juice
1 large tomato, chopped
1 teaspoon chopped onion
tabasco sauce to taste

Mix all the above ingredients together and serve at room temperature. Makes approximately 2 cups. Serve with tortilla chips.

Chunky Green Goddess Dip

1 cup mayonaise
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup chopped parsley
1 clove of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons chopped green onion
2 teaspoons fresh chives
2 teaspoons dried tarragon leaves
salt and pepper to taste

Combine above ingredients and chill for 3 hours. Serve with chips, or on vegetables. Makes 3 cups.

Sesame Dip

1 egg yolk
1/2 cup sesame oil
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
1 teaspoon chile oil

Combine above ingredients and mix together. Chill for 3 hours. Serve with vegetables. Makes 2 cups.

Smoked Whitefish Dip

1 brick of cream cheese
1 cup chopped smoked whitefish
1 teaspoon mayonaise

Mix together and chill for 1 hour. Serve on bagel crisps or mini rye breads. Makes 3 cups.


You can also try mini-party bites. Buy mini rye breads or mini french breads and try these toppings:

Smoked salmon and cream cheese
Melted goat cheese or brie, with tarragon sprinkled on top
Egg salad or chicken salad
Roasted garlic (Put an entire garlic clove in the oven, top with olive oil and bake for 1 hour at 350 for a delicious spread).
